SOLAR BATTERY GRANTS FOR Stuart Park HOMES & BUSINESSES
The Home and Business Battery Scheme in the Northern Territory (NT) offers grants to homeowners, businesses, and not-for-profit organisations in Stuart Park to help purchase and install solar batteries and inverters. This initiative aims to lower energy costs and enhance energy independence for NT residents.
From 1 December 2024, eligible applicants can receive:
- $400 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of usable battery system capacity
- Up to a maximum grant of $12,000
This grant applies to battery systems approved by the Clean Energy Council (CEC) and those that are Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capable. Check the Clean Energy Council website for the list of eligible battery products.
If your system produces excess electricity, it will either be exported to the grid or used to charge an on-site battery.
From 1 July 2025, a feed-in tariff of 18.66 cents per kWh will apply for electricity exported to the grid between 3 PM and 9 PM.
Eligibility Criteria
You can apply if you are:
- A registered owner of a residential property in the NT
- A registered NT business
- A not-for-profit or community organization operating in the NT (in owned or leased premises)
Homeowners who also own a business can apply for separate grants for both their home and business
Previous grant recipients of the Home and Business Battery Scheme are NOT eligible for this new scheme
Each property and applicant is limited to one grant per location.

What the Grant Covers
You can use the funding for:
- A solar photovoltaic (PV) system with an eligible battery and inverter
- An eligible battery and inverter only, if you already have solar panels installed
- You cannot use the grant for solar PV panels and inverters unless they are installed together with a battery.
How to Apply
Follow these steps to apply for the grant:
- Check Eligibility – Read and agree to the official terms and conditions.
- Get a Quote – Obtain a quote from a qualified system installer or provider such as GES Energy.
- Apply Online – Submit your application through GrantsNT to receive a unique voucher.
- Approval & Installation – Wait for approval before starting work. Installations must be completed within 6 months of voucher issuance.
- Payment – Pay your installer, provide them with the voucher, and the NT Government will cover the approved amount directly.
Applications are processed in the order received. Incomplete applications will take longer to assess.

It is a cloud-based network of residential solar power systems that are operated by a centralised smart control mechanism. One of the program's main objectives is to help stabilise the grid during times of need. Eligibility to participate in a VPP depends on the type of solar battery that you have.

Eligibility criteria for the Discovery Energy VPP:
- Inverter size should not be more than 10 kW
- Battery size not lower than 2.5 kWh
- No life support at the property (a compliance requirement)
- Direct debit to be set up on the account
- Credits can be encashed only 4 times a year provided each time the amount is more than $100
- System to be connected to stable home wifi
- Monthly billing & e-billing only
- Inverter and battery to be from the approved eligible list of products
