Have A Question?
Solar panels provide homeowners and commercial clients in the Northern Territory with clean, green and sustainable energy. The energy generated by your solar PV system can be used immediately, returned to the grid, or saved for later use. If you want to accomplish the latter, you will need solar batteries.
A solar battery lets you control and optimise your solar power usage. In short, it gives you the ability to make the most of your solar PV system.
Solar batteries offer numerous benefits, including:
The Tesla Powerwall gives you backup power when you need it most. It automatically detects grid outages and can store enough power for prolonged blackouts. GES Energy is an accredited designer and installer of the Tesla Powerwall.
The sonnenBatterie Evo is a fully integrated AC coupled solar battery system that delivers maximum solar generation savings. Its versatility allows it to be suitable for indoor and outdoor installations. GES Energy is an experienced and authorised sonnenBatterie designer and installer.
Sungrow offers a range of integrated solar battery system solutions that are considered to be among the best value for your money in the industry. They can be customised to meet challenging energy requirements of all residential, commercial and industrial applications.
Goodwe provides hybrid inverter and battery storage solutions for an array of applications. Their cutting-edge technology is designed to protect users from power outages and to maximise energy efficiency. GES Energy is an authorised dealer of Goodwe solar products.
Alpha ESS offers solar battery storage solutions for residential and commercial applications, with features that include load shifting, peak shaving, and backup power. We are an authorised dealer of Alpha ESS batteries.
Store energy with the safest, longest-lasting, and low-cost batteries available per MWh.
The Tesla Commercial Battery is a fully integrated all-in-one energy storage solution that can be customised to meet your needs and increase your energy savings. Additional controls help increase sustainable energy generation. GES Energy is an authorised Tesla Commercial Battery installer.
EVO Power offers a range of turnkey BESS solutions for C&I applications, starting from 250kWh to mWh. All EVO Power systems come with advanced software solutions that make maximising solar energy savings a whole lot easier.
The Home and Business Battery Scheme in the Northern Territory (NT) offers grants to homeowners, businesses, and not-for-profit organisations to help purchase and install solar batteries and inverters. This initiative aims to lower energy costs and enhance energy independence for NT residents.
From 1 December 2024, eligible applicants can receive:
This grant applies to battery systems approved by the Clean Energy Council (CEC) and those that are Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capable. Check the Clean Energy Council website for the list of eligible battery products.
If your system produces excess electricity, it will either be exported to the grid or used to charge an on-site battery.
From 1 July 2025, a feed-in tariff of 18.66 cents per kWh will apply for electricity exported to the grid between 3 PM and 9 PM.

You can apply if you are:
Homeowners who also own a business can apply for separate grants for both their home and business
Previous grant recipients of the Home and Business Battery Scheme are NOT eligible for this new scheme
Each property and applicant is limited to one grant per location.

Solar generation allows you to save on your monthly power bill, but participating in a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) lets you take your savings even further. In major cities across the Northern Territory, the growing uptake of solar power is putting pressure on the grid, particularly during periods of high solar energy production.
By joining a VPP, consumers in the Northern Territory can generate their own electricity, store it in solar batteries, and sell excess energy to providers when demand on the main grid is high—helping to stabilise the network while maximising savings.
VPP, or a virtual power plant, enables consumers to reduce their bills by avoiding peak demand tariffs, as well as generating extra revenue by selling their electricity.
It is a cloud-based network of residential solar power systems that are operated by a centralised smart control mechanism. One of the program's main objectives is to help stabilise the grid during times of need. Eligibility to participate in a VPP depends on the type of solar battery that you have.
Discovery Energy Virtual Power Plant (VPP) enables solar consumers to make the most out of their solar power systems. It uses proprietary software to help solar users maximise results.
Solar feed-in rate with profit sharing on Discovery Energy-managed transactions using your stored solar energy.
Battery recharging at no further charge to the consumer.
This is a contract that can be terminated at any time. You are free to leave at any moment without incurring any fees or penalties.
Direct debit payments are simple and credits can be applied to gas accounts or cashed in.
For a full year, you can take advantage of its fantastic benefits.
You can use My Account or the DE app to manage your account and see how much energy you've used.
All correspondence and bills will be sent online via email.
